Everyone in Antarctica is a 'tourist', but those visiting to see the unique wildlife and stunning scenery far outnumber the scientific and base personnel. Most tourists travel by ship to the last 'unspoilt wilderness' to visit penguin and seal colonies, cruise past icebergs and view whales from zodiacs, or the historic huts of the Heroic Era explorers. Adventurers, many of whom fly into a camp at Patriot Hills, ski to the South Pole, or climb the Vinson Massif. Others brave the uncertain weather to kayak along the coast. Hedgehog House photographers have experienced all these activities.
