Livelier than seals, more personable than skuas, penguins are one of the most interesting of aquatic birds. There are 17 species of penguins in the southern hemisphere, with most of them living in the subantarctic regions. Some are tall and stately, others short and stubby with yellow crests; some abundant, others threatened, but all are irrestible in their black and white dinner-suits, and Hedgehog House photographers have captured them in many settings.
