Gottlieb Braun-Elwert

Gottlieb was a professional mountain guide for over 35 years and was director of Alpine Recreation based at Lake Tekapo near Mt Cook. Gottlieb was the first person to climb all NZ's 3000m peaks in a single winter season. His many climbs in the Southern Alps and in Patagonia (winter ascent of Cerro Fitz Roy and ski journeys on the Patagonian icecap) in particular have enabled him to photograph climbers and ski tourers in action. Gottlieb was also passionate about photographing New Zealand's alpine flowers.
