Nepal - Kingdom of Mustang - Colin Monteath

Together with a Nepali horseman Colin Monteath rode from Jomosom on the Kali Gandaki river up into the Kingdom of Mustang on the Nepal Tibet border to photograph the Buddhist culture and the austere but hypnotically beautiful Tibetan Plateau desert landscape. It was in Mustang that the Tibetan resistance movement was based during the 1960s - raiding parties crossed the border to fight Chinese invaders of their homeland. The people around the capital Lo Manthang were in harvest mode during Colin's visit. (See other galleries on Colin's expeditions and photo assignments to Tibet and Nepal)
