Colin Monteath has photographed in Lhasa, the ancient capital of Tibet, before and after four expeditions to the Tibetan side of the Himalaya. Since his first visit in 1984 en route to Mt Everest North face, Lhasa has changed enormously at the hands of the Chinese. Thankfully, the Dalai Lama's home the Potala (now a World Heritage building) remains untouched. Colin always enjoys interacting with the Tibetan people - their spiritual strength and unshakable belief in Buddhism is impressive in the face of incredible hardship and subjugation.
