In the northern winter of 2006, Colin Monteath joined two other New Zealand skiers for an expedition to the Kingdom of Zanskar in NW India. A nine day traverse of the famed Chador gorge (walked on river ice with porters pulling sleds) provided access to Zanskar from Leh in Ladakh. After a rest at Karsha monastery, the trio skied on through the mountains of Zanskar crossing the Pensi La before returning to Leh.
